Abstract

Introduction: This study endeavors to identify discourses and analyze the situation of human resources management information systems of the Isfahan University of Medical Sciences.
Methods: This qualitative study was conducted using Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis method and semi-structured interviews with 42 experts and managers working in the field of human resources management and university information technology management and participatory observation to identify meaningful concepts, critical and different discourses. Then, it has been analyzed using Clark's situation analysis method by drawing ordered situational map and positional maps.
Results: Based on the results of the study, different discourse structures play a role in human resource management information systems, which indicates that the designed model of human resource management systems is based on the type of thinking and managers’ view towards human resources and factors. The environment has been designed and implemented.
Conclusion: In practice, human resource management information systems are influenced by the power of official and unofficial actors and agents, government laws and regulations, approvals of the board of trustees, as well as environmental and cultural factors. This research can pave the way for other researchers to consider a critical approach to human resource information systems and helps guide more research with this approach.
