Introduction: The great interest in cosmetic surgeries and the possible risks of these types of surgeries make it necessary to pay attention to health literacy for the applicants of these types of surgeries in order to evaluate and make correct decisions. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the level of health literacy of cosmetic surgery applicantsMethods: The research method is cross-sectional. The research sample includes 189 applicants for cosmetic surgery referring to Hazrat Fatemeh Teaching Hospital in Tehran, and the Iranian Adult Health Literacy Questionnaire (HELIA) was used to collect the data. Descriptive statistics and U-Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis statistical tests were used for data analysis.Results: The average health literacy of the participants was higher than the average of the questionnaire. The highest average is related to the understanding component (85.65) and the lowest average is related to access (76.60). There is a significant relationship between the average level of health literacy of women and men in the dimension of understanding and the average of health literacy. Also, there is a significant relationship between the level of health literacy and the level of education. Applicants with a higher education degree also have a higher level of health literacy. Also, the most sources of obtaining health information for applicants is the Internet (40.74 percent).Conclusion: Although according to the results of the research, the health literacy level of the cosmetic surgery applicants was above average, but it is necessary to provide the necessary training on promoting health literacy among different groups, especially people with low literacy levels. Also, it is necessary to provide valid educational and advertising brochures in health and treatment centers for applicants

Introduction: One of the most important quantitative methods and research method in library and information sciences is scientometrics which has markedly developed over the last four decades. The purpose of this study was to map the structure of surgery discipline in Science Citation Index (SCI), during the period 2000 to 2010. Methods: This paper is descriptive - analytical and using scientometric techniques. The number of records is 83426. This study is based on bibliographic data retrieved from the Web of Science (gathering tools). The data contain all types of documents published in surgery between 2000 and 2010. The records are processed by HistCite, Pajek and VOSviewer in order to generate chronological and other tables as well as historiographs which highlight the most-cited works in and outside the collection. Results: USA had the greatest publishing, i.e. 24,533 (29.41%) documents; also, The status of research in Iran has been compared with other world and Middle East countries that Iran, with 0.34% rating is the 33rd in the world and the 3rd in the Middle East. Regarding their subject area, most of the articles, i.e. 34.85% documents, dealt with “surgery”. As for their source of publication, 14.68% articles had been published in the CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM CARDIOLOGY. Conclusion: it is noteworthy that, In order to improve Surgery scientific publications of Iranian universities and research centers, appropriate policies should be developed while being continuously monitored by Iranian Ministry Science and Health and universities research policy makers. Introduction: Nowadays, many organizations such as hospitals have realized that utilization of quality management models and systems is the best way for them to compete, survive and develop. Therefore, 5S (sorting, straightening, systematic cleaning, standardizing, and sustaining) model was implemented in three units of Imam Reza Hospital (Kermanshah, Iran) including medical records, nutrition, and surgery. The present study evaluated the effects of the model on various units offering hospital services. Methods: This quasi-experimental study included all the staff members of medical records, nutrition, and surgery wards (81 persons) in Imam Reza Hospital before and after an intervention in 2010. The pretest was conducted by standard 5S checklists and patients satisfaction measurement questionnaire whose validity and reliability were confirmed. The staff members were then educated, 5S model was implemented in the three mentioned units, and the required changes were applied during two months. Afterwards, the same tools were used again to perform the posttest. The results obtained before and after the implementation of 5S model were presented by descriptive tables and diagrams. They were analyzed by analytical statistics including paired-t and Wilcoxon tests in SPSS15. Results: Findings of this study showed establishing 5S model to be effective on performance and service quality improvement in the three mentioned units. In other words staff and patients satisfaction rates changed significantly after 5S model in all 3 units. The organizational 5S model (sorting, straightening, and systematic cleaning (S1-S3, respectively)) made desirable changes in the nutrition (S1: P < 0.001; S2: P < 0.001; and S3: P < 0.011), medical records (S1: P = 0.001; S2: P < 0.001; and S3: P = 0.009), and surgery (S1: P = 0.001; S2: P = 0.003; S3: P = 0.033) units. Conclusion: Overall, 5S model could improve service quality in the studied units. This finding supports the success of 5S model in industrial parts. Therefore, the model is suggested to be employed in all hospital parts and medical care provider units.
