Introduction: The impact of research is any type of output of research activities that has a positive return for the scientific community, health systems, patients, and peoples. The impact of research can include various aspects, including impact on health, economy, and policy making in society. Therefore, the aim of the present study is to determine the policy impact of research in the field of health management and policy making of Iran University of Medical Sciences in 2014-2019.Methods: This applied research was carried out by means of a survey and citation analysis of records published in 2014 to 2019. At first, the return on investment questionnaire was completed by the first or corresponding authors. The findings of the questionnaire were analyzed by citation analysis and checking the number of citations in studies. The data analysis was done using SPSS software version 22.Results: Overall, 459 research in health management and policy-making of Iran University of Medical Sciences were identified. These studies have been used in 768 systematic reviews, seven educational content productions, 129 upstream documents, policy briefs, and instructions; three clinical guidelines, six health technology assessments, and six non-health decision-making.Conclusion: The policy impact of research in the field of health management and policy-making was mostly through systematic reviews, upstream documents, policy briefs, and instructions. Therefore, it needs to provide further application of these studies in decision-making outside the health field, clinical decision-making, training contents, on-demand research, health technology assessment.

Research is considered as an important investment for promoting innovation, knowledge development and economic development of countries. The aim of this study was to determine the economic barriers of health research in Iran. This was a narrative review. The data was collected through studying the articles published on information databases like Scopus, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, SID, Magiran, and PubMed. The keywords used in this research included "Barriers to Research", "Research”, “Economics", "Research Market" "Health" and other similar keywords. The study of economic barriers of health researchers showed that four factors including lack of research funding, lower investment in research, inadequate relationship with industry, and the non-commercialization of research results are considered as economic barriers in health research. Considering the new approaches of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education in the field of health research, it is necessary to attract funds from outside universities, strengthen the relationship between industry and academic sectors, improve the quality of researches, and increase commercialization of research results.

Introduction: Altmetrics is a new concept retrieved from citation indicators based on Web 2.0 that can evaluate all academic outputs. This descriptive survey aimed to compare the citation rate of academic articles affiliated by Guilan University of Medical Sciences, Iran, in two social scientific networks.Methods: The recent study was descriptive applied research carried based on scietometric approach. All of the academic articles with affiliation of Guilan University of Medical Sciences indexed in Scopus from 1997 to 2015 (845 articles) were chosen. Then, the citation rates of articles with details of indicators in two scientific social networks, ResearchGate and Mendeley were followed. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS software, through analytical statistic tests such as Student-t and Pearson Correlation Coefficient testss. The significant level was less than 0.05 in this study (P < 0.05).Results: All of 845 academic papers were cited 3199 times in Scopus database until 2015. The citation rate in ResearchGate (87%) was more than the citation rate in Mendeley (52%). There was a positive significant correlation between citation rate of articles, observation rate and download rate of articles in ResaerchGate. In addition, there was a positive significant correlation between citation rates with reading frequency of articles in Mendeley (P < 0.05).Conclusion: According to the results, the ResearchGate and Mendeley scientific networks have more impact on increasing the amount of download and as a result, the citation rate of articles. Therefore, researchers in medical sciences can use these networks as a "search for information" and "self-archive" for the purpose of greater use and citation of their scientific activities.
