Introduction: Observational articles, as basic studies, in nursing-midwifery are of great importance; however, the quality of these articles has not been investigated, especially from the methodological view. This study endeavored to compare the quality of observational articles of nursing-midwifery journals indexed in Scopus database between the years 2017 and 2021.Methods: In this comparative cross-sectional study, 479 observational articles on nursing and midwifery journals indexed in the Scopus database between the years 2017 and 2021 were reviewed. The data collection instrument was the STROBE checklist methodology section, which recorded the methodological characteristics of the articles reviewed.Results: The average score of the methodology report of all observational studies was 15.10±2.46. The lowest percentage of reports were related to the management of possible bias cases (2.7%) and the method of dealing with incomplete data (5.6%). The average score of the methodology report in the year 2021 is similar to the year 2020 but significantly higher than in the year 2017 to the year 2019; the year 2020 is similar to the year 2019 and higher than the years 2017 and 2018; 2019 was similar to 2018 but higher than 2017 (p < .05).Conclusion: The findings the study can help the editors and reviewers of Iranian nursing and midwifery journals to obtain more knowledge about the favorable characteristics and weaknesses of their journals, which can lead to a change in the policy of accepting articles for publication and improve the quality of their journals. It will also help researchers to report their research results accurately and with higher quality.

Introduction: Considering the importance of sexual health literacy among youths, especially students, and the occurrence of health-threatening behaviors due to the spread and pollution of available information, this study endeavored to determine the level of sexual health literacy of students and its relationship with demographic variables.Methods: This applied study was an analytical survey. The sample consisted of 387 students of Bushehr University of Medical Sciences. To collect data, the "Sexual Health Literacy of Iranian Adults" questionnaire was employed within four domains (access, reading and understanding, analysis and evaluation, and application).Results: The average score of sexual health literacy of the students is higher than the average score of the report questionnaire, and among the components of sexual health literacy, "application" has the highest average and the "analysis and evaluation" has the lowest average. Paramedical faculty students had a lower average score than the students of other faculties. The variable score of reading and understanding in unmarried students was significantly lower than married students.Conclusion: According to the results and the importance of sexual health literacy, it seems necessary for managers and policy makers to take appropriate decisions to increase the sexual health literacy skills of different groups, including youths, and take necessary plans, practical solutions, and serious steps.

Introduction: Mothers’ health has a special importance due to their responsibility in providing the conditions necessary for their children’s health. This study aimed to investigate the health information needs of mothers of children younger than two years old referred to healthcare centers in Bushehr City, Iran.Methods: In this descriptive study, the statistical population constituted of mothers of children under two years old in Bushehr City. Data collection was done using a researcher-made questionnaire whose credibility was measured by content validity and formal validity methods in quantitative and qualitative ways, and its reliability was measured by stability test method (test-retest) and Cronbach’s alpha. Mothers were selected using convenient sampling method. The results were described using descriptive statistics.Results: The most important information needs of mothers regarding their and their children’s health included information of proper behavior toward their new child, other children, and husband. Their first motivation for seeking and obtaining information was their interest in information, and the main sources of data were physicians.Conclusion: Results of this study show that mothers needed information regarding their health and that of their children. This fact shows that current information and trainings given to mothers by healthcare systems is insufficient.
