Introduction: Co-authorship network is a kind of social network that offers significant information about collaboration among authors, which is one of the most important factors of the qualitative and quantitative growth of the scientific publications. The results of this study can clarify the dimensions of collaboration in dental schools in Tehran City, Iran, between the years 2011 and 2015 based on the data in Thompson Reuter’s Web of Science and Scopus databases.Methods: The study was conducted through scientometrics method and social network analysis. The research community consisted of 802 documents indexed in the Scopus and Thompson Reuter’s Web of Science databases published in years 2011-2015.Results: The majority of collaborations made by Iranian researchers were with the authors from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Turkey. Co-authorship network of researchers consisted of 60 nodes (authors) and density degree of the network was 0.028. There was a strong linear correlation between the number of publications and degree centrality of authors at the level of 0.73.Conclusion: The results seem to indicate more collaborative research and an increase in the overall production of articles with this cooperation growing at an appropriate level. This suggests that researchers in this field are aware of the benefits of scientific cooperation.

Introduction: Lean Six- Sigma management is the result of two approaches of Six- Sigma and lean manufacturing as both seek to improve processes and answer the needs of the users. The aim of this study was modeling the relationship between the applications of Lean Six-Sigma management components with customer-oriented approach in academic libraries in Tehran city, Iran. Methods: In this analytical applied study, the study population was all the managers and officials of the central libraries of Tehran universities under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education and Ministry of Science, which reached to 150 employees. Data collection was carried out using Library method and a questionnaire. The validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by experts in librarianship and management and its reliability was determined using Cronbach's alpha coefficient which was calculated to be 0.89 for Lean Six -Sigma questionnaire and 0.86 for customer-centric questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson, Kolmogorov-Smirnov, test correlation matrix, t, and one-sample-t tests with the help of SPSS 20 and Lisrel software. Finally, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling was used to test the hypothesis.Results: The components based on facts and information management, limitless cooperation and information technology had a significant positive correlation with customer orientation in libraries and that these components had a suitable situation in academic libraries in Tehran city.Conclusion: The applications of Lean Six- Sigma management in the studied population are not desirable and it requires more attention by library managers.Keywords: Lean Six -Sigma management; Lean Six Sigma; Libraries; Customer Orientation

Introduction: Application of six sigma in library management provides quality services to the users by which the satisfaction of users can be achieved with the help of providing better and improved new services in the libraryThis research aimed to investigate the Observance amount components of Six Sigma in Medical Sciences Library, University of Tehran, Shiraz, Isfahan from the perspective of librarian.Methods: This was a descriptive- analytical survey in which a questionnaire was used for data collection. The study population consisted of 210 librarians of Tehran, Shiraz and Isfahan University of Medical Sciences Bachelor's degree or higher in librarianship in 2012-2013. 147 questionnaires were returned. This research was analyzed using descriptive (number and percentage) and inferential statistics (one-sample t test for hypotheses) with soft SPSS software was used. For verifying the face validity of questionnaire, it was given to other professors of Management and Information Sciences and knowledge and their suggestions were applied and the reliability of the questionnaire was also estimated 83% using Cronbach’s Alpha.Results: In comparison to the average of six sigma in the library community, the average scale of one percent (p<0.01) there is a significant difference. This means that all variables of Six Sigma in Perspectives of Librarians i s significantly higher than desirable.Conclusion: Confirmed all the hypotheses of the study indicate that the librarians well understood the challenges in libraries and Six sigma as a new approach to meet their goals as efficiently. Introduction: Medical libraries as the heart of the nation's health care system are responsible, for appropriate and up to date information transmission into the arteries of society. So in the field of natural disaster management, such as earthquake or flood, have an important and significant role. Therefore in the face of such disasters, they can act powerfully. In this regard, this study, survived awareness of library managers and staffs with disaster management issues and 4 main stages of it in libraries. Methods: in this study, an analytical survey to investigate awareness of library managers and staffs with disaster management topics and 4 main stages of it in libraries will be discussed. The statistical population of research includes 130 librarians working in university libraries, affiliated to the Ministry of Health and Medical Education are based in Tehran. The data was collected through a researcher made questionnaire, consisting of 30 components with 5 item Likert range. Validity of questionnaire developed by the expert and reliability of questionnaire, was assessed by Cronbach's alpha, this value was equal to 0.81 which is indicative of good reliability. To analyze the research findings, statistical inference, such as binomial test, Friedman test and Chi- squared test, were used and the SPSS version 19, were applied. Result: The manager's familiarity with the issues of crisis management, taking into consideration the strategic planning libraries with average 7/4 in too much effort to provide resources on disaster management for libraries with an average 51/2 was assessed as low. Firstly, the library building retrofitted with an average of 78/15 in the limit of very large, distressed and location maps prepared anti-crisis average of 83/10 is assessed as low. Secondly, set the data preparation rapport with other organizations (eg, fire and police), with a mean of 87/14 at the most, dissemination of general information pertaining to emergency conditions with an average of 07 / 11 is estimated as low. 's the third step is to prepare backup copies of important files in the library with an average of 73/16 in the limit of very large room called a crisis center with an average of 47/11 is assessed as low . Finally in the fourth stage of upgrading the professional competencies needed by librarians with a mean of 67/14 high level of community volunteers in rebuilding the library with an average of 64/9 minimal by respondents assessed. Conclusion: Libraries as information centers adopt distinct functions in modern society. Awareness of library managers and staffs with disaster management issues can help library to provide better services in the face of natural disaster. In the meantime use of information technology tools such as social networking, mail services, telemedicine with medical librarians and publish online images of natural disasters through the library, the library will be stronger. Introduction: Due to it’s close relationship with the health care and biomedical engineering position in society and Iran,s Position in the world in this field of science, This study compares the world scientific outputs and scientific cooperation in biomedical engineering in the Science Citation Index, between the years 2002-2011. Methods: Research method is analytical in which scientometric indicators in analysis of co-authorship are used. Research society consisted of 12044 research and academic outputs in biomedical engineering which are indexed in the Science Citation Index during 2002 - 2011. To extract data, we used from version 5/7 Web of Science database and counting and data analysis was performed using Excel software. Results: America (4427), China (990), Germany (869), Canada (818) and England (754), held the most biomedical engineering outputs. The most sub-subject area belonged to materials science (5896), biophysics (1904), and sport science (863).The trend for top subject areas was the cooperation of more than four authors. America (1207), Germany (484), England (478), China (341), and Canada (335), had the most share of cooperation, in scientific documents of biomedical engineering. Elsevier, Wiley-liss, Springer and IEEE were the most active publishers. Top world authors were from America, Portugal, and the Netherlands. The documents with 4 (2268) and 3 authors (2190) exceeded other co-authored documents. Top world research centers consisted of: Calliff System University (America), Montreal University (Canada), Harvard University (America) and Toronto University (Canada). From among 90 countries, Iran (55 records) holds 28th world rank and the third rank in South West Asian countries. Conclusion: No significant relationship was found between the number of co-authors, number of scientific works of the authors and citation absorption. The countries had the more collaboration with other countries were the most productive ones. So there were the direct relationship between the scientific collaborations and the rate of scientific outputs. For the reason that biomedical engineering has the interdisciplinary nature itself, numerious scientific groups specialists are required and the rate of scientific collaborations of this field is daily exceeding. Finally, it may be asserted that the growth of team cooperation and products of researchers of biomedical engineering in the world is ascending and Scientific ideals of our country, seriously require professionals and the government supports and programs. Introduction: Nowadays and with the increasing role of the worldwide web as one of the most important sources of information on the one hand, and the enhancement of its usability on the other, it is necessary for the web designers and developers to be familiar with the criteria that make a web portal usable. Therefore, the present study aimed to provide knowledge about the criteria of usability in United States National Library of Medicine (NLM) in comparison to Iranian National Library of Medicine (INLM). Methods: Taking a critical approach, this article examined web portal of NLM in comparison to INLM, in order to conduct a reliable assessment. The tools for data collection was an explanatory checklist, developed by the researchers based on the review of the literatures consisted of 159 components. Desired portals were measured by it. In order to analyze research findings, descriptive statistics (frequency and percentage) used. Results: In general, the results showed that the evaluation of usability in NLM portal, compared to the overall assessment in accordance with all the sub-criteria, in index portal, (with 676 points), was 96%, and it was 48% in INLM. Conclusion: Considering the increase of expansion for web portals and their roles, web portal usability evaluation ensures web designers about the usability of their websites for satisfying their general users. According to the value place of national library as the golden gateway to access quick easy and unlimited medical information, considering its web usability can be useful. Obviously, each information service exists for the sole purpose of satisfying its users, and all its activities, services and products are geared towards this purpose. How well this purpose is served is a measure of the usefulness of that information service. Introduction: The main aim of this study was to recognize the correlation between the emotional intelligence factors and virtual reference skills in academic libraries of medical sciences in Iran. Methods: In this study, the study population consisted of 44 subjects (employed in academic libraries of medical sciences) who were randomly selected. The data collection tools were two questionnaires one of which was to measure emotional intelligence skills based on interpersonal subscale of Bar-on emotional intelligence questionnaire, and the second one was based on researcher-made information questionnaire, in order to evaluate the virtual reference skills. The reafter, the collected data were studied and analyzed via central indices and dispersion (scattering) of descriptive statistics and statistical tests of parametric single sample-t and t for independent group as well as Pearson correlation coefficient and step by step multiple regression. Results: The findings of the study showed a significant correlation between the emotional intelligence factors and the related subscales with virtual reference skills. Conclusion: The regression analysis results showed that empathy skills can foretell and adapt the virtual reference skills in librarians. Introduction: With the increasing role of the Internet as one of the most important sources of information on the one hand, and the enhancement of its usability on the other, it is necessary for web designers and developers to be familiar with the criteria that make a website usable. Therefore, this paper aimed to provide knowledge about the interactivity, changeability, and non-textual content of websites of Iranian hospital libraries.Methods: In an applied research, the interactivity and changeability of online libraries of Iranian general and specialty hospitals were evaluated. The tool for data collection was a 21-item researcher-made explanatory checklist based on the review of the available literature. The websites of 24 hospital libraries were evaluated by the checklist. In order to analyze research findings, descriptive (frequency and percentage) and inferential statistics were used. All analyses were performed in SPSS and Microsoft Excel.Results: Overall, 38% of both general and specialty hospitals were committed to interactivity and changeability criteria. Non-textual content criteria were met by 26% and 24% of the websites of libraries of general and specialty hospitals, respectively.Conclusion: Since only less than half of the required criteria were met, strategies need to be employed to improve the process of web designing.Keywords: Evaluation; Interactive and Changeable Views; Non-Textual Views; Libraries, Hospital; Internet.
