Comparison of Energy Consumption Before and After Implementation of Subsidies Targeting Plan in Hospitals of Qazvin University of Medical Sciences

Introduction: Energy resources are one of the most important sources of service delivery. The goal of this research was to compare energy consumption before and after the implementation of targeted subsidies in Qazvin University of Medical Sciences hospitals in 2009-2011. Method: This was descriptive-analytical study that was performed cross-sectional in 2011. Population of study was Qazvin University of Medical Sciences hospitals. All hospitals have been studied as a census. Cost and consumption statistics, and documents referred to the years 2009-2011, was based on information collection. Data was analyzed through Excel and SPSS software using descriptive statistics and t-student test. Results: t-student test shows that in the hospitals studied, monthly mean of water, electricity and gas consumption in the year before and after the targeted subsidies had no significant difference(p-value=0/457),( p-value=0/64),( p-value=0/68). But the cost monthly mean of each of them before and after the targeted subsidy has been significantly higher than before (p-value ≤0/001). Conclusion: For optimizing energy consumption is better to determine consumption standards in different parts of hospitals according to the latest level of technology and other factors affecting energy consumption and then to be used.
