Introduction: After applying breast cancer treatment methods, there is a possibility of recurrence of the disease. The aim of the present study was using data mining techniques in order to provide predicting models for breast cancer recurrence.Methods: 18 features of 809 patients were used in the current descriptive study. The study consisted of two phases, preprocessing phase and model learning. Expectation Maximization (EM) and Classification and Regression (C and R) were used for the analysis of the first phase. In order to analyze the second phase, the five algorithm model including Neural Network, C and R, the decision tree algorithm C5.0, Bayes Net, and Support Vector Machine (SVM) was used.Results: The accuracy of the EM and C and R algorithms was 0.641 and 0.420, respectively, in the preprocessing phase. The accuracy of Neural Network, C and R, the decision tree algorithm C5.0, Bayes Net, and SVM algorithms was 0.858, 0.865, 0.870, 0.883, and 0.998, respectively, for the model learning phase.Conclusion: According to the findings, the model with the application of EM algorithm in the first phase and SVM algorithm in the second phase had the highest functionality. It was also important in determining the treatment process.

Introduction: Over the past several years, outsourcing services has received attention from managers in health sector in order to improve the quality of services and reduce costs; managers of the health information systems have also used outsourcing in information management departments. In this study, the frequency of observing legal dimensions in outsourcing for health information management departments of educational hospitals of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, Iran, was investigated.Methods: In this descriptive, cross-sectional study, the frequency of observing legal elements in the outsourcing contracts for health information management services in five educational hospitals of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences in four areas including provisions of contract, assignment contracts, confidentiality of patient information, and the status of the essentials and tools was investigated by using a check list. These areas were examined by coordinating with university's legal affairs based in order to study the contracts related to health information management department. The data were analyzed using central indexes at the frequency.Results: The highest frequency of legal elements observance in outsourcing contracts of various hospitals was related to the confidentiality of patient information with a frequency of 47.1% and the least frequency related to the elements of tools and necessities, which showed that, unfortunately, none of the dimensions of this element were observed. In addition, among five hospitals surveyed, the hospital with the most frequent observation of legal dimensions (B) only had a score of 35.5%, indicating that hospitals and contractors were not paying attention to the legal dimensions of outsourcing.Conclusion: The findings showed that the overall observance of legal elements in outsourcing contracts for health information management services in hospitals is significantly lower than the ideal. The results can be used by Isfahan University of Medical Sciences to protect the confidentiality and privacy of patients by observing legal dimensions during outsourcing health information services.

Introduction: Theory of constraints is a managerial view which aims at increasing the system efficiency by identifying constraint processes. Present study aimed to apply the theory of constraint in scheduling system of a healthcare facility in order to increase efficiency and decrease patient wait times.Methods: The present research was a descriptive-analytical study through using cross-sectional method on 130 patients of a cancer treatment center. To simulate the patient flow, a discreet event simulation model was employed. The required data for simulating the patient flow were acquired using a questionnaire from patients and direct observation. After simulating the model in Simul8 software, different scenarios were developed and their effects were tested on patient wait times and system output.Results: The results from the simulation of different scenarios showed that using the third scenario, which was based on the theory of constraints principles, could balance the trade-off between average wait times and average system output. In comparison to output maximization scenario, only by a 4.36 percent decrease in average daily patient output, drum buffer rope (DBR) scenario improved average waiting times by 41.39 percent. On the other hand, relative to minimizing the wait time scenario, DBR scenario increased the average daily patient output by 29.97 percent, while increased the average wait times by 11.66 percent.Conclusion: Findings showed that employing the concepts of theory of constraints in healthcare can be significantly effective in managing the bottlenecks, reducing patient wait times, and improving system efficiency.

Introduction: Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) process, archive and transmit the medical images, so it has created a revolutionary in the field of medical images. In this study, after determining features related to the use of PACS, the status of this system in the teaching hospitals of Tehran City, Iran, was investigated.Methods: In this descriptive study, through searching the databases, the features of a comprehensive PACS were identified and a checklist was designed. The validity of checklist was approved by 5 specialists and Kappa formula was used to examine the inter-rater reliability (0.74). The study population consisted of 27 Tehran teaching hospitals which had PACS and were evaluated through census method in 2016. PACS features in the studied hospitals then were assessed and the results were presented.Results: There were some similarities and differences in the following features: storing images in Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) format, using Health Level Seven International (HL7) standard, image optimization, automatic image compression, support of teleradiology, integration with radiology information system, type of relationship with other systems, network type to exchange images, and the way of sending images.Conclusion: The results showed that to gain benefits from this technology, designing or choosing systems that have the highest performance appropriate to users' circumstances and needs in essential. Thus, more studies to investigate PACS features used in medical diagnostic centers can underlie the designing or selecting high-quality systems by producers and managers.

Introduction: According to constant changes and the growing trend of information technology and its necessity, most of the organizations tend to outsource this part of their activities. According to health organization importance, in this study, risks of health information technology outsourcing and the causes which make them appear were identified and important risks were prioritized; so, by managing relative risk, we can take a step in performing health information technology service outsourcing successfully in health field in the country.Methods: This was a cross-sectional practical study in term of purposive and a descriptive-analytical in term of research method using Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (FAHP) in 2017. The study population consisted of technology experts who had at least 2 years of experience of working with Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Iran. This study was done in three main stages; first, we reviewed previous articles and health information technology outsourcing risks were extracted. Then, we used Delphi technique for identifying and selecting suitable factors; and in the last stage, we assessed and prioritized risk factors using FAHP.Results: FAHP showed that prioritization of main risk factors by their weight respectively consist of supplier (0.255), contract (0.235), technology (0.146), financial (0.144), security (0.090), and outsourcer (0.013).Conclusion: Provider risks was the most important risk and after that contract risk, technological, financial, privacy, and outsourcer risk were important, respectively. Most of the experts expressed that provider risks could cause other risks.

Introduction: Citation is the fundamental principle of research compilation; therefore, researchers and their organizations always try to increase their citation rates by means of attracting other researchers. This study aimed to evaluate the quality of the scientometrics indicators of the researches done in Iranian type-one universities of medical sciences.Methods: This was a descriptive study with the scientometrics approach. A full-scale method was used in this research and frequency, percentage, and mean were used to describe the data. The research population consisted of articles which cited articles from researchers in Iranian type-one universities of medical sciences on the Web of Science Database from 2010 to 2014.Results: During the years 2010 to 2014, with increase in the number of articles, the average rate of citations to the articles had increased significantly. Although the average citation per article was low, the citation rate was acceptable (between 1 to 3 percent).Conclusion: The results of this research can be useful for reducing the barriers of obscurity and citation which are the most important factors in the growth of the scientometrics indices of the articles produced by high-level researchers in medical sciences in the country.

Introduction: Given the volume of information and time constraints of health specialists, it is necessary for clinical librarians to work as part of medical teams. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the familiarity of students and librarians with duties of clinical librarians.Methods: This was an applied study carried out using descriptive survey method. The sampling was carried out using survey method and the study population consisted of all bachelor level librarianship students and all librarians in Isfahan University of Medical Sciences (IUMS), Iran. Data was gathered using a questionnaire made by researchers.Results: Librarianship students and librarians in Isfahan University of Medical Sciences were familiar with duties of clinical librarians. There was no significant relationship between the average familiarity score of librarians in all three dimensions of duties, functions, and objectives with their field of study, level of education, and work experience. The only significant difference between average scores of librarians and students was in the search/research dimension.Conclusion: Students of librarianship and librarians have relative theoretical familiarity with work skills of clinical librarians and they are similar to each other in this regard.
