Introduction: The goal of the present study was to develop an automatic and high-performance professional nutrition and diet advisor system to help the users to evaluate their nutrition conditions and get useful nutritional information. The study also aimed to provide users with a healthy meal plan based on their physical conditions such as weight, height, age, etc. Methods: This study was an applied research towards developing an intelligent diet advisor system. We focused on fuzzy logic and artificial neural networks as the means of implementation. The dataset was collected from one thousand patients’ files chosen randomly from the files of the patients referred to a diet clinic in Isfahan City, Iran, between 2011 and 2015. The collected data were entered into excel software during four months of study. Results: The designed three-layered artificial neural system with back propagation algorithm was able to diagnose the best dietary plan among the eleven proposed plans. The designed neural networks were able to work with 92% of accuracy, while the proposed fuzzy logic-based system carried out the procedure with 97% of accuracy. Conclusion: The results of this research indicated that this dietary proposal system using neural networks and the fuzzy logic was sufficient enough to be used to propose appropriate diet and meal plans to individuals. As a result, it could allow the users to receive the very efficient diet plans after entering their personal information easily, accurately, and almost free of charge.

Introduction: Nowadays, health care organizations face many challenges in terms of service quality. Therefore, it is essential to evaluate the quality of services in these organizations. This study aimed to evaluate the quality of service of specialized clinics in Shiraz City, Iran, using SERVQUAL model and specify the effects of service quality on the responses of service recipients during 2016.Methods: This was a descriptive research and the study population included all customers of 6 specialized medical clinics in Shiraz City. The sample size was determined to be 201, using stratified sampling. The data-gathering tool was a researcher-made questionnaire and the data were analyzed using structural equations modeling. Results: There was a congruity between customer expectations and perceptions of clinic performance in terms of the dimensions of service quality (tangibles, assurance, empathy, reliability, and responsiveness). In addition, the impact of service quality of these clinics on the reactions of service recipients was confirmed. This effect could explain 83 percent of service recipients’ reactions. Conclusion: Data analysis confirmed this model. Clinics managers using this model will be able to evaluate the quality of service, specify its effect on service recipients’ responses, and make plans for improvement of weaknesses.

Introduction: Co-authorship network is a kind of social network that offers significant information about collaboration among authors, which is one of the most important factors of the qualitative and quantitative growth of the scientific publications. The results of this study can clarify the dimensions of collaboration in dental schools in Tehran City, Iran, between the years 2011 and 2015 based on the data in Thompson Reuter’s Web of Science and Scopus databases. Methods: The study was conducted through scientometrics method and social network analysis. The research community consisted of 802 documents indexed in the Scopus and Thompson Reuter’s Web of Science databases published in years 2011-2015.Results: The majority of collaborations made by Iranian researchers were with the authors from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Turkey. Co-authorship network of researchers consisted of 60 nodes (authors) and density degree of the network was 0.028. There was a strong linear correlation between the number of publications and degree centrality of authors at the level of 0.73.Conclusion: The results seem to indicate more collaborative research and an increase in the overall production of articles with this cooperation growing at an appropriate level. This suggests that researchers in this field are aware of the benefits of scientific cooperation.

Introduction: Scientific social networks increase the speed of data transfer through increasing the interaction among researchers in one hand, and result in their dynamism and identification and their scientific productions on the other hand. With regard to the importance of the presence of researchers in such networks, the aim of this study was to investigate the presence and the use of such networks by the faculty members of Semnan University of Medical Sciences, Semnan, Iran. Methods: In this descriptive-analytic cross-sectional study, 154 faculty members were present at the university during May to September 2016. The data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire whose validity and reliability were confirmed. Chi-square and Fisher’s exact tests were performed at a significant level of 0.050 to analyze the data. Results: 122 faculty members completed the questionnaire and returned it. 59.8% (73) of faculty members were members of at least one scientific social network. The relationship between membership in the Research Gate and academic rank was significant (P = 0.037); so that the membership of the academic degree of the instructor was less than the membership of assistant professors, associate professors, or professors. The most common reason for using scientific social networks was pursuing the activities of other researchers, and the most common reason for non-use was lack of time. In addition, there was a significant relationship between the lack of skills in information retrieval and academic rank (P = 0.004); so that a high percentage (38.5%) of the faculty members stated that they had insufficient skill in data retrieval. Conclusion: The use of scientific social networks will increase the visibility of scientific output, and consequently, increase the citation to the scientific production of the institute, which will lead to the promotion of university research.
