Abstract
Introduction: Pharmacy information system has many value-added features, and due to supporting a therapeutic approach and pharmaceutical care management, it is considered a revolution in health care provision. This study aimed to evaluate the success of the pharmacy information system in Shariati Hospital in Tehran, Iran, based on the DeLone-McLean Model.Methods: This applied study was conducted through descriptive-analytical method. The required data were collected in 2015 using a questionnaire, the validity and reliability of which had been confirmed by experts and Cronbach's alpha coefficient, respectively. The study population consisted of 61 pharmacy staff members, and nurses and head nurses of gynecology, surgery, and pediatric wards of Shariati Hospital who were selected using convenience sampling. Data analysis was performed using structural equation modeling method.Results: The results showed that the system quality, information quality, and customer satisfaction indirectly influenced the success of the pharmacy information system.Conclusion: According to the results, the success of the information system in the investigated hospital's pharmacy was affected by the three important criteria of quality of the system, customer satisfaction, and quality of the information, respectively. Therefore, the consideration of these three factors can play an important role in improving current systems and creating new information systems.
