Abstract

Introductions: Due to versatility and wide range of health care services, the social care insurance organizations can not afford undertaking all health care services for the insured. This is why additional services are taken over by private or commercial health care insurance companies. Such services are known as complementary insurance. In this study , it was decided to investigate the satisfaction of the insured using the complementary insurance and those not using it. Methods and Materials : It is a descriptive study in which the data were collected by a questionnaire. It was distributed among the insured referring to four healthcare centres : Noor superspecialized polyclinic, Shahid Shoorideh superspecialized polyclinic, Khatam-al-anbia Hospital, Mostafa Khomeini Hospital. Results: Findings of the study revealed that those insured by health care services organizations used the complementary insurance more than others. And those inpatients who used the complementary insurance had the highest satisfaction and 91% of the participants advised other patients to use the complementary insurance. Conclusion: Inpatients used the complementary insurance more frequently and suggested it to other patients. Key words: insurance – insurance coverage – patients – patient satisfaction
