Abstract

Introduction: Informed consent is a legal document whereby patients' relatives (patients) or his legal representatives, their written consent for treatment to be announced. Consent before treatment is legal rights of patients. This study aims to examine the legal validity of consent obtained from hospitalized patients was conducted at the University Hospitals.Methods: This study was a applied and cross - sectional. The research community and inpatient medical records of patients who consent process was conducted in compliance unit, From April to July 1391 were a teaching hospital of Kashan. Systematic sampling and medical records of 266 patients were selected. 3 check lists associated with each treatment and surgery consent, Discharge with personal taste and use of medical information was collected through interviews and observation. Data from the SPSS software and were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. To examine the relationship between variables and the significance level of the chi-square test and Fisher exact tests were used.Results: Legal validity of consent for treatment and surgery, 60 percent, and discharge with of personal taste was 76/1%. Also in consent of Use of medical information from 89 consents, only 30 had been completed and 70 percent of the amount was the credit.Conclusion: The results of this study showed that some consents were obtained from the low credibility And the need to improve the quality of patient consent necessary measures to be taken.
