Introduction: Biochemistry laboratories provide important information about the health status of people for clinical interventions and decisions. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the data elements of biochemistry laboratory information systems, measure their values, and determine the local minimum dataset (MDS) for designing these systems. Methods: A descriptive-analytical survey was used in this study. The statistical population of this research was hospital and non-hospital biochemistry laboratories in Isfahan city, Iran, and sampling was carried out using the convenient sampling method. The research tools were a checklist and a questionnaire with confirmed validity. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and one-sample t, independent t, Friedman and Leven tests via SPSS21 software. Results: The average utilization of the standard data elements in non-hospital and hospital biochemistry laboratory information systems were 61.7% and 61.2%, respectively. The minimum utilization of the standard elements was in the identity information section, physicians and referring centers information sections; and the maximum utilization of the standards was in the accounting section. Some data elements had high value, but had not been considered in the laboratory information systems and some of the current data elements used in the laboratory information systems had low values. Conclusion: Despite the widespread use of the biochemistry laboratory information systems in Iran, the required minimum dataset and international standards have not been considered in their design. Because of the different applications of these systems, using a local minimum dataset for designing these systems is very important.

Introduction: Predicting factors affecting the acceptance of information systems using persuasive processes is of the important subjects that has seen little attention. This study aimed to investigate the interrelationships between credibility of message source, argument quality, informational and normative social influence, affective and cognitive responses, self-efficacy, and nurses’ intention with continued use of hospital information systems. To this end, elaboration likelihood, social influence theory, and cognitive response models were applied. Methods: In this applied and cross-sectional study, the data was gathered using a questionnaire with verified reliability and validity based on experts' opinions and computation of Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 0.91, respectively. The questionnaire was distributed among 600 information-system users in nursing staff of hospitals affiliated to medical universities in Iran who interacted with health information systems in every shift work in 2015. Finally, 531 questionnaires were returned and were useable. For data analysis, the structural equation modeling was used with the help of LISREL8.5 software. Results: Based on the relationship between models, it was determined that 39% of intention of repeated use could be predicted by using variables (P = 0.01). Regarding direct and indirect effects of independent variables on dependent variables, it was determined that self-efficacy had the most effect on intention of repeated use (0.620).Conclusion: According to the finding of this study, using persuasive processes along with research models can increase the probability of acceptance of health information system by users.

Introduction: Achieving the potential benefits of electronic health record (EHR) requires data interoperability. Interoperability of a summary record is more practical than a detailed record. Interoperability requirements include identification and development uniform and standard EHR structure. This study aimed to provide an architecture model for the summary record. Methods: This was an applied and descriptive study. In this study, EHR standards and structural models were studied. After studying the standards, a structural model was designed in accordance with the summary record and health information management. Delphi technique was also used to consult informatics experts. Results: Content analysis and descriptive statistics were respectively used for preparation of the model and its validating. A proposed model was prepared based on integration of the Continuity of Care Document (CCD), Medical Markup Language (MML) and ISO 13606 [Electronic health record extract (EHR extract)] structural models and was accepted by experts. Conclusion: It seems that merging the structural models of MML, CCD and standards of EHR extract can lead to designing a structural model for summary HER brief since these models have the potential of interoperability and mapping with each other. The designed model can also be a suitable framework for organizing and sharing the records across wide geographic area.

Introduction: One of the 8 service packages in the first phase of Iran health transformation plan (HTP) is dedicated to improving the quality of outpatient visits. We investigated the average visits/hour criterion at the Alzahra university hospital, Isfahan, Iran, as the biggest province health center, after implementation of health transformation plan. Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study, conducted in all 26 clinics of Alzahra hospital using visit/hour as the main indicator for evaluating the quality of outpatient services. Data gathered from June 2014 to July 2015 from clinic secretaries with the help of a checklist. Gathered data were analyzed via calculating the quarterly mean and standard deviation of visits/hour separately for internal and surgical clinics using SPSS18 software. Results: Considering 8 visits/hour as the desired standard number, the mean visits/hour in the internal clinics in the first, second, third and fourth quarter were 6.06 ± 2.27, 7.76 ± 4.80, 7.02 ± 4.18 and 6.37 ± 2.52, respectively. For the Surgical clinics, the mean visit/hour was 9.88 ± 6.09, 10.11 ± 5.47, 9.40 ± 6.26 and 7.63 ± 2.93 for first, second, third and fourth quarters, respectively. Conclusion: After implementation of health transformation plan in Alzahra hospital in May 2014, the visits/hour criterion worsened during the second quarter but improved in the third and fourth quarters. This can be due to the increase in the number of patients at the start of the plan or financial issues and the effects of which was reduced due to better supervision later on. We suggest using different standards for surgical and internal clinics in order to improve the effectiveness of the plan. Keywords: Hospitals; Visit; Outpatients; Health Transformation Plan; Iran

Introduction: The special brand equity is an important factor in marketing of health services especially in hospitals. The aim of the current study was to provide a model for evaluating the brand equity in Isfahan city hospitals, Iran. Methods: In this descriptive correlational survey, data were gathered using a questionnaire. The reliability and the content validity of the questionnaire were proved through the methods of Cronbach's alpha (α = 0.91) and factor analysis, respectively. The study was done in 10 medical centers in Isfahan city in 2015. The number of questionnaires was 380 including 24 questions. SPSS software was used for describing the demographic variables and Amos software was used for approving the fitting of model with structured equations. Results: Hospital brand equity was directly affected by ‘satisfaction’, ‘experience’ and ‘loyalty’ of patients to the hospital brand. The factor of ‘loyalty’ with the impact of 0.91 played the most important role in enhancing hospital brand equity. ‘Trust’, ‘tendency to maintain the relations’ and ‘commitment’ were the other factors which positively affected making patients ‘loyal’. The factor of ‘pervious experiences’ had no significant impact on loyalty to hospital. The result of fitting model with the index of goodness of fit index (GFI) = 0.955, normed fit index (NFI) = 0.930, and root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA) = 0.071 showed validity of the proposed model for evaluating the hospital brand equity. Conclusion: According to the results, since enhancing patients’ loyalty and trust on service quality and increasing their commitment to maintain the relations with hospital are effective in hospital’s special brand equity, necessary actions should be done in order to reinforce and promote these variables. In addition, appropriate strategies should be considered in hospital policy in order to have better and more effective relations with patients during hospitalization and after discharging from hospital.

Introduction: This study aimed to assess the outcomes of family physician program, whose goal was to increase access to health care, using comprehensive health care approach in 17 rural health centers in the Gorgan province, Iran, during 2012-13.Methods: This was an applied and descriptive-analytic study. The assessment took place in a 24-month period, using error-correction regression models within panel-data regression model that were computed with Ewies8 software. The estimation results were shown by weighted average coefficients of health care in comprehensive care, and effectiveness coefficients for short- and long-term effects of comprehensive care indicators of access to health care. Results: There was a positive relation between the access to health care and comprehensive care index. In addition, a 10-percentage increase in comprehensive care index (the weighted mean of four cares: medical care, nursing care, laboratory care and pharmaceutical care), the average access to health care would increase by 10.42 percent. Conclusion: Family physician program have succeeded in increasing access to health care by a growth rate equal to the growth rate of comprehensive health care. However, the effect of comprehensive health care on access to care is highly dependent on physicians and only, slightly influenced by other factors similar to the earlier program of developing health care network.

Use of information technology in the health care systems is essential to enhance the quality of care. Nurses are the largest group of users for hospital information systems in any healthcare system. Therefore, understanding their views and how they use these systems can be effective in improving hospital information systems and public health quality. This survey study was conducted using the two primary keyword “nurses” and “hospital information system” and a total of 43 retrieved articles were included in the study. The selected articles were divided into 12 categories based on similarities in goals and aims. More articles concentrated on nurses’ attitudes toward the hospital information systems and despite their positive attitude, financial goals were covered more than clinical purposes. Despite the improved attitude of nurses toward hospital information systems, the need to improve nurses’ computer knowledge using updated and powerful software for covering users’ needs was strongly emphasized in these studies.
